Gearing up for a Wedding

So today starts my cake preparation for the Wedding Cake due Saturday. I'm trying to perfect the juggling of jobs and family :) I think I've learned a little from the Duggars and Jon & Kate...Plan, Plan, Plan. So I've written out my plan and can't wait to get started. The cake I'm doing for Saturday is a plain vanilla cake with white buttercream icing and fondant ribbons around the edge of each tier. I'm hoping the beaded fondant border will add a touch of elegance to the simple look which I love so much. Just those few touches of embellishment are just right. The fun part is the table decorations which I'm excited to do as well.

The wedding is white and deep purple, which I have purchased some decorative ribbon that is deep purple to trim the vases with. I am also including some heart accessories on the ribbon to hang in the front of the vase. I'm hoping to do the floating or submerged flower look in the vases so they can be placed around the cake along with some floating tea lights on the top in the other vases to give the soft lighting to enhance the look of the cake. I can't wait...Pictures coming soon of the trials!

The First of Many

So on Saturday I did my first photo shoot with my awesome friend Sana. She's the best! I was so comfortable and she listened really well to my vision (even though it wasn't explained in photographer terms, lol) she still understood. I lost track of time because we were having so much fun but I'm sure we were there for at least 2 hours.

Preparation
So for the shoot I needed to decorate 2 faux cakes and some faux cupcakes which was kind of hard seeing as though the dummy cakes and cupcakes had no weight so they wouldn't stay still. Note to self: find out how food stylist do it :)

The "Big" Day
So after figuring out how to transport US, the food, and the equipment, we arrived at the location. While Sana was setting up, I prepared the food. After a few minutes of playing around with ideas we started to shoot. It was great learning about different shots and it helped that the kitchen owner had great taste so we had props we didn't even bring :) So the shoot went great and we got lots of great pictures. I'll post them when I get them!

Aftermath
It wasn't any....We just peeled the seran wrap off the dummies and we were done :) I couldn't have asked for anything else. We dropped everything in the tote and placed it in the trunk and we were off into the sunset...

All in all, everything was great, the photographer, the kitchen, the day it was all just perfect. I'm so happy and I can't wait to show the pictures.
